UPDATED:

The 13th Annual Community Care Plan Non-Profit Awards, presented by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino and hosted by 211 Broward, this month honored non-profit organizations and leaders striving to make a positive difference in Broward County.

This year’s event March 5 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, sponsored by City & Shore magazine, featured a red-carpet entrance featuring WFP Law LIVE gold models, the Victoria Duke Beauty area and other themed pop-ups. There was also a luncheon and awards ceremony.

“This event draws attention to the non-profit sector,” says Sheila Smith, president and chief executive officer of 211 Broward, whose mission is to provide a 24-hour comprehensive helpline and support services to individuals and families seeking crisis intervention assistance and to provide information and connections to health and human services in Broward County. “Non-profits do so much to improve lives and make life the best it can be for families in Broward County, but they generally go unrecognized for the amazing work that they do. This is an opportunity to bring recognition to the non-profits and thank them for what they do. They really deserve to be highlighted at least once a year to let the community know how important they are to all of us.”

Awards were given in eight categories, and all other nominees were eligible for the JM Family Enterprises Community Choice Award, for which the winner was selected by members of the community, who voted online for their favorite organization at .

The recipients of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lifetime Achievement Award (Sen. and Mayor of Broward County Nan Rich) and Greenspoon Marder 211 Broward Excellence Award (Jen Klaassens), both selected by 211 Broward, were recognized at the event as well.
